The Spirits Of Chocolate

While some of us are self-proclaimed gods and goddesses of something in this life, the ancients payed complete homage to their gods with a passion of servitude.  The most unique deities are of course are those who represent chocolate!  Chocolate played an important role in the ancient Mesoamerican cultures.  The Aztecs believed their chocolate god, Quetzalcoatl, brought the first chocolate tree from Paradise a moonbeam from the Morning Star.  Quetzalcoatl was said to have taught the people to utilize the cocao seed.

In the Mayan culture, Ixcacao was goddess of fertility and chocolate.  Of course, her story is similar to that of the Aztec culture.  Ixcacao taught the Maya to plant seeds that would produce a bountiful cocao harvest.

How Old Is Chocolate?

Most of us enjoy it.  Others claim they cannot live without it.  Its sweet symphonies tend to leave permanent impressions on our taste buds.  This age-old culinary, olfactory and taste sensation has been enjoyed for ages by many cultures spanning the world!  We seem to quickly express our like and desire for the sweet hero and remember our favorite 'choco' recipes, but does anyone know the age of chocolate?

It has been debated the use of chocolate dates back anywhere between 2000-3100 years.  The Mesoamerican luxury was said to produce frothy beverages and other enjoyable eats.  The Aztec and Mayan cultures had the 'exclusive' use of chocolate until the Spanish conquered Mexico.  This introduction changed the history of chocolate as we know it.

Chocolate Spirits

When is chocolate better than it's original form?  Some would say when it fuses with liqueurs.  There seems to be a synergy between chocolate and 'spirits.'  Over the years, savvy brands have broke from the norm by creating larger than life tastes with chocolate.  Taking taste beyond chocolate has been the mission for luxury liqueur brands for decades.  This marriage between spirit and chocolate satisfies the most fickle of tastes with rich decadence.

One of the most popular brands to anchor the union is Godiva®.  The Godiva® Original Liqueur has captured the interest of critics and consumers alike with it's velvety-chocolate, yet not overly sweet taste.  The Original is the cornerstone to a collection of five Godiva® spiritual experiences including Godiva® White Chocolate Liqueur, Godiva® Mocha Liqueur, Godiva® Milk Chocolate Liqueur and Godiva® Caramel Milk Chocolate!

Do you crave a hint of vanilla with your chocolate spirits?  Grappi Chocolate Liqueur has just what you crave.    This rich and creamy offers a solid chocolate base with just a hint of vanilla.

Hiram Walker®, famous for world famous brandies, schnapps and other bar essentials has made their contribution to the world of chocolate liqueurs.  Creme de Cacao is popular for its rich dark chocolate taste and made from the finest Venezuelan and Brasillian cacao.

There are other decadent combinations of chocolate and spirits with coffee and other worldly flavors. Finding such wonders can be fun and well worth the investment!  The next time you enjoy anything chocolate, consider a spiritual enhancement.  It could make a world of difference in taste!

Have a sweet week!

Entertain In A Flash: The Shocolaate Quick-Save Guide

Remember when in-home entertaining involved six of your favorite plush friends adorned in large rimmed hats and giant brooches?  No one talked at once, everyone enjoyed the same flavor of tea and the only choice involved one lump or two!  Little girls were young ladies of stature as were Bearsey, Rabbit and other quad of silent, yet furry guests!  Things have changed since then and the standard in service is challenged beyond sugar cubes and fresh air tea.

Flash forward.  Do you remember the tightest spot you have ever been in when entertaining?  We're not talking about being out of one of five types of flavored sugar to sweeten tea.  We're talking about someone or a group of someones showing up to be entertained at no moments notice.  What could possibly be worse than this?  Not having the right teas and eats to entertain.

Entertain To A 'Tea'
Having a variety of tea is paramount for any successful kitchen.  The only challenge is deciding which teas to keep.  Always keep a selection of fruity, spicy, herbal and traditional blends.  Various ways to sweeten tea is also a wise investment.  Not only will your guests enjoy selecting which tea and sweetener will take them through their visit, chatting about the variety of flavors and their personal selection will also incite enjoyable interaction.  Three stars for YOU!  Everyone seems happy!

What To Serve?!?!
Oh no, what eats to serve?!?!  It is best advised to keep a selection of crispy eats that can be stored for at least 30 days.  Some may call it their emergency 'stash' while others keep it aside for the occasional 'crash' entertainment situation.  These eats range from crispy to rich and creamy in texture!

Be Prepared!
We're not suggesting you register for the draft, but we would like to encourage you to always be prepared for the entertaining unknown.  If you want to take your crash entertainment to the next level and become wildly popular with uninvited guests, keep a wide selection of Shocolaates on hand for such occasions!  Hand created, one-of-a-kind artisan pretzels, OREOS and truffles store easily in the freezer or refrigerator.  All Shocolaate eats easily transition from cool climate to sunny arrangement in a flash.  Textures and flavors remain freshly in tact for all to enjoy!

 Hostess With The Mostest
Want to be the hostess with the mostest?  As much as it seems crazy to put back the decadence of some of the richest chocolate fused with exotic spices, we recommend you keep between 4-5 boxes of eight truffles stored in the freezer for flash entertainment moments such as this.  Serving a flat or multi-tiered tray of crispy flavored cookies, Shocolaate truffles, short breads and our artisan pretzels and OREOS is entertaining in itself.  Seeing smiles across the room of those who have crashed your home when met with such a glorious selection could be as satisfying as a first kiss...really!  One of the ultimate fetes in home entertaining has been achieved with great success!

Other Things To Consider When Flash Entertaining
*Keep conversation to a premium by keeping its content to a minimum!
*Always serve with a smile!
*Always make personalized suggestions to your guests.  A savvy hostess is a cherished hostess!
*Always guide through engagement!

We hope you have enjoyed reading our flash entertainment guide as much as we have enjoyed creating and sharing it.  Have a sweet week!

Conversation Starters: A Shocolaate Guide To 'Breaking The Ice'

Who knew Shocolaate would invoke such interesting conversations!  Cristy creates each truffle pretzel and OREO to stand alone in both taste and visibility.  If you're a person who has a challenging time pulling together the courage to start any type of conversation, this guide is for YOU!  Whatever your station in life, 'breaking the ice' can be nerve racking, leaving one to later kick themselves with thoughts of "What if" running through the mind.

What if you had something sweet to step in and help navigate the situation?  That's where we come in, well, our truffles, pretzels and OREOS!  How?  We have explored the many opportunities to start conversations and have created sweet solutions on how to get over the humps of starting some of the toughest first words...

Two Guests And A Wedding

You see her from across the room.  She is sitting alone at a large table.  The first thought to go through your mind, "Oh she's safe and no one seems to be interested," may be your last about her if you don't act FAST!  The worse part about this situation is that she noticed you noticing her sitting alone!  How do you start a conversation with this pretty lady without loosing face?  Enter Shocolaate!  Walk over to the candy bar, collect the most unique pieces of Shocolaate and return to where she is sitting (hopefully alone).  Nothing complements beauty better than something artistic and sweet!  Remember to offer wine and if you REALLY want to impress her, share with her your knowledge of the unique spices fused into each truffle!  Two points and kuddos to you for getting her to smile...

  Career Booster Or Bummer?

Going to the bosses house for dinner or an event?  Bringing a gift is always good etiquette, but bringing the right gift will keep you fresh in their mind as well as find good favor with the spouse!  Allow us to whisper sweet nothings into their ears after the party is over!  Start with a box of eight truffles neatly wrapped to perfection!  If you really want to take it over the top, two boxes of eight truffles would make the ultimate impression.  One box for the host and hostess and one to be served with dinner is a lovely way to bring everyone together and show another classy dimension of your super self!  #Winning.  #Class.  #Shocolaate.

Trophy Date Or Tragedy?  Shocolaate As Your Wing Man!

Ok, the hard part is over, or so you thought it was.  You landed a date with HER.  She's the trophy girl your friends told you that you would never be able to speak to much less go on a date with.  Don't fret.  Give us a quick call and place an order for an eight box of assorted truffles!  When she sees you thought enough to bring a gift, she'll be delighted.  When she takes her first bite, she'll be taken.  After the date, she'll have seven different wonderful ways to remember you by!  ....oh and it was HER idea to go on that second date?

Charity CASE

Have you just joined a charity or community group and need a good ice breaker?  A box of eight beautifully wrapped Shocolaates will initiate great beginnings!  If you REALLY want to make an impression, gift a box of four truffles to all the leadership members and a colorful assortment of artisan pretzels and OREOS gifted to all other members will create kind words for a very long time!

Family Affair

Nervous about meeting his family...the entire family?  Are your nerves completely shot because you are cooking for everyone as well?  A box of beautifully wrapped four truffles placed in each place setting will 'wow' everyone attending!  The first time they see the gorgeous detailing, eyes will light up and the conversations will start.  If you like their expressions and comments, just wait until the ribbon is removed!
If they like that...just wait unit you serve a collection of eight truffles on a crisp white, narrow tray at the top of each place setting to enhance the dinner experience!

We believe these Shocolaate solutions will break the ice and start sweet symphonies of conversation.  Of course, you will have to find out for yourself!  We think you'll enjoy the process!

Have a sweet week!

Many Thank Yous

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Kimberly Moore of the Bee Hive Blog.  Saturday evening, we had the pleasure of joining Kimberly on her very popular pod cast.  Present for the cast were Cristy, Diana and Mary.  Not present for the cast but very important to the production of Shocolaate were Michael of www.palmbeach.tv , who created our web presence and keeps it going and Snap Jones Photography, who has translated our vision of Shocolaate into beautiful photographs.  We are truly thankful for everything you do to have made Shocolaate what it is today and for helping us to keep is moving forward and maintain quality guest service!

We had a lovely time on Bee Hive Blog!  If you missed the show, you can catch it here:  Shocolaate LIVE on Bee Hive Blog.

We were so honored to be a part of the Hive for an evening, that we created special spa treatments that were fashioned after some of the truffles in the Shocolaate line up.  These treatments address cellulite, and other issues.  They are simple to make and can be created on the smallest financial budget if need be!  Mary mentions some popular resources in the Bee Hive pod cast as well as in the individual treatment postings.

To close our posting, we would like to sincerely thank all of you who have and continue to support Shocolaate!  Without you, where would we be?

Thankful and grateful...

Twilight Mani-Pedi Chocolate Treatment

Twilight
The Twilight treatment was inspired and fashioned after the Shocolaate Twilight truffle.  This treatment addresses the hands, feet, fingers, toes, calves and forearms.  It provides intense anti-aging (anti-oxidant), moisturizing and exfoliation/skin polishing.

Ingredients:

Dark chocolate (ALDI has great prices on chocolate.  Any dark chocolate can be used)

Rose oil  (NOW Foods)

Dried, crushed rose petals.  These can easily be purchased at your local florist.  Request dried flowers.  They can usually be secured at a lower price or free of charge depending on the florist.

*In a double boiler, melt the chocolate.  After melted, pour into a separate bowl and set aside until room temperature.  Consistency must be thick, but easy to brush onto body.  Add 2 tsp rose oil and mix well.  Fold in crushed and dried rose petals.  Mix until all ingredients are consistent throughout the mixture.

*Clean your feet and blot dry with a nice warm towel.

*Dip an application brush into the Shocolaate mixture and brush Shocolaate/rose mixture onto toes, feet and up to calves, completely.

*Allow to dry and set for 20 minutes.

*Apply Shocolaate/rose mixture to fingers and hands up to forearms.

*Allow to dry and set for 20 minutes.

Removal:

(1)  Steamed towels can be placed around treated areas for 5 minutes before toweling off Shocolaate mixture.  Steamed towels may be created with damp hand towels warmed in the micro-wave for five minutes.  CAUTION:  TOWELS WILL BE VERY HOT.  Allow microwave door to stay open for about 2 minutes to take the edge off the heat.  DO NOT APPLY SCALDING HOT TOWELS TO YOUR SKIN AT ANY TIME.  -Shocolaate Team

(2)  Treated areas may be rinsed by shower-type rinse in mani-pedi tub.

Post-polish rub:

Place rose oil in palms of hands.  Rub between hands well to warm.  Rub warmed rose oil onto treated areas with deep pressure focusing on the nail and cuticle areas.  The rose oil is fragrant and will help skin to reach its glistening potential.

**Special note:  If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, please do not use this treatment at any time.  If you are pregnant or lactating, please do not use this treatment.  Enjoy post-pardum!

Have a sweet week!
